The Block Community Challenge
Through The Block Community Challenge, Reece Foundation volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help transform crisis accommodation units at The Ranch 2.0 in Mornington. Together with the team at the Mornington Community Support Centre, they helped create safe, functional spaces for people experiencing homelessness.
Access to clean water and sanitation is often viewed as a basic need, but it also plays a critical role in a person's wellbeing, dignity, self-esteem and sense of belonging.
The Project
The Mornington Community Support Centre provides a wrap-around support service for people experiencing hardship, including food relief, material aid, emotional support and emergency accommodation. Through The Ranch 2.0 program, individuals and families experiencing homelessness have access to a safe place to stay while they get back on their feet.
As part of The Block Community Challenge, Reece Foundation volunteers worked alongside contestants to help renovate two accommodation units, supplying and installing bathroom and laundry facilities. Within a week, volunteer plumbers completed the rough-in, stack work and plumbing fit-off, helping deliver spaces designed to feel like home.
The Reece Bathroom Life team provided a beautiful suite of products from the Posh range to create a beautiful, calm and welcoming space.
For many people, a bathroom is something that's easy to take for granted. It's where we start and end each day. It's a place of privacy, comfort and routine. But for people experiencing homelessness or hardship, access to safe, functional amenities can mean much more. It can provide dignity and safety during some of life's most challenging moments.
